The haven of grace announces
new executive director

Scott Gee

The search for a new Executive Director began in March 2011 and in June 2011 the Board of Directors unanimously approved the hiring of Scott Gee.  Scott has worked in the non-profit sector for over 20 years. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Citizens for Missouri's Children where he worked on legislative issues related to health care access and affordability, as well as educational standards for children and families.  He also directed the development of the Kids Count in Missouri data book, which measures the wellbeing of children in each county in the state and the City of St. Louis.

Katherine Betz served as Chair of the Search Committee and shares the following:  “One of the stated objectives of the search was to hire a proven leader with skills in management and fund-raising.  Given Scott’s years of work with disadvantaged persons, his experience with development and advancement, and his heart to serve the mission, the Search Committee along with The Haven’s staff readily endorsed his candidacy.  One of Scott’s references stated what we had observed: ‘Scott is one of the good guys; he cares about doing good for the world.’  We are pleased that The Haven of Grace is now a part of Scott Gee’s world.”

“I am thrilled and excited to join such a great organization,” Gee said.  “It is a privilege coming to work every day.  Knowing that we are helping our residents stabilize their lives so they can build a strong foundation and a brighter future for their children is such a powerful mission,” he continued.  Scott will oversee the excellent program that is in place and add new perspective for future opportunities.

In addition to his roles as Executive Director for Citizens for Missouri’s Children and the Brain Injury Association of Missouri, Scott Gee served as Director of Development and Marketing for St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf and United Cerebral Palsy of Greater St. Louis.  He started his career with Missouri Special Olympics and had the honor of coaching a basketball team to third place in the 1991 International Special Olympics games.  Scott and his wife have three teenage children, two daughters and one son, and they reside in St. Peters, Missouri.
