THE HAVEN CLOSES IN ON ITS GOAL
Building from success
ST. LOUIS (February 5, 2007) - Through the generosity
of private and corporate donations, The Haven of Grace,
which serves young pregnant women ages 16-24 by providing
a safe home, parenting skills and education so they
graduate and become tax paying citizens, is closing
in on its goal of $2.6M for The Quadrangle Project on
The campus of The Haven of Grace. With more than $2M
raised, the ground breaking is scheduled for June 2007.
This project will raise The Haven's total commitment
in North St. Louis to $4.8M. The campus includes the
$2.2M shelter facility as well as $2.6M apartment complex.
Not only is The Haven taking part in building up the
Old North St. Louis community, but The Haven is helping
young women build successful lives. Numerous life improvement
classes are offered as are scholarships to continue
their education. Former residents are now home owners
and college graduates.
"Two dreams are soon becoming reality: one, these women
have taken the necessary steps to improve their life;
and two, the Quadrangle apartments will be built to
house those who need it," said Diane Berry, Executive
Director.
The Haven of Grace, a ministry of faith, is a residential
and aftercare program, providing a safe, nurturing and
educational environment for homeless, pregnant women
by focusing time and resources on mother and newborn
as they become a family and begin to establish their
life together in the community. Since developing the
scholarship program, 190 women have received $500.00
scholarships, and continued their education.
