New Group Takes Off

| Dana Sutter |
The Young Friends is a new group of
Haven supporters that organizes fun, informal events
such as happy hours, baby showers and mini-fundraisers.
Currently, the group has five members on the committee,
with Dana Sutter serving as chair.
The main purpose of the Young Friends
is to expose new people to The Haven. “If we can get
people in their 20’s and 30’s involved with the Haven,
they will likely become long-term supporters,” said
Dana.
“I admire the young mothers living
at The Haven who are working hard to make a better life
for themselves and their children. As a parent, I am
interested in any programs that will help these young
women develop good parenting skills that they may or
may not have been exposed to when they were children,”
explained Dana. With these feelings, one of the Young
Friend’s next goals is to set up a bookcase at The Haven,
and fill it with children’s books donated by people
who attend the events.
The last Young Friends event took place
on Thursday, October 18th from 5 –10 PM at Il Vicino
restaurant in Clayton, 41 S. Central Ave. All guest
that mentioned The Haven had 15% of the dinner bill
donated to The Haven of Grace. For future Young Friends
events, please check The Haven website.
