Life Changing Choices

One of the many programs that The Haven
of Grace offers is its scholarship program. Many current
and former residents see this as an opportunity to fully
change their lives. One such person is Valerie, and
these are her thoughts:
I feel that The Haven not only gives
women and their children a place that is safe, warm
and secure to live, it gives them a place that they
can truly consider their home. The Haven gives you a
sense of belonging.
The Haven not only helped me but many
women become a better person, a better parent, a better
spouse, a better friend, a better sister, and a better
daughter. The Haven is not just a place where you can
get a hand out, but it gives you a hand up. When you
leave The Haven you leave with a sense of accomplishment
and a sense of self worth. The Haven gives you the confidence
you need to know that you can make it on your on and
stand on your own two feet, while always remembering
that if you fall there will always be someone there
with open arms that you can turn to for guidance.
The Haven opened doors for me that
I never imagined would be opened. The Haven allowed
me to experience the American dream of becoming a home
owner. They not only showed me how to obtain my own
home, but how to maintain it as well. With the help
of The Haven I was able to continue my education, because
they provided me with not only much needed scholarships
but the encouragement and support I needed as well.
The Haven not only allowed me to obtain my Bachelors
Degree, but their continued support has allowed me to
obtain my Master’s Degree as well. I can truly say that
without The Haven I would not be the successful, confident,
and understanding woman that I am today. “The Haven
has EMPOWERED me!”
