The Story of Divine Daughters of The Haven of Grace

On July 19,2025 history was made at The Haven of Grace with the installation of the first chapter of the Divine Daughters of The Haven of Grace. Bespoke to our mission, this chapter is a powerful extension of aftercare and now stands as the cornerstone of Project Inspire.

This initiative provides a sacred space for mothers to strengthen their leadership, move beyond basic job readiness into career pathways, and build the foundation for generational wealth. Divine Daughters does not replace the wraparound services of aftercare; instead, it is a vehicle to ultimately eliminate the need for them, as mothers rise into independence and leadership.

The Divine Daughters of The Haven of Grace was duly instituted at the Chartering Ceremony. President & CEO Patricia R. Bosman installed the first officers: President Maggie Duret and Vice President Beatrice Brown. Following are the names of 14 remarkable founding members: Taja Goode, Beatrice Brown, Maggie Duret, Charletta Wilson, Diane McIntyre, Eunique Strickland, Tuncia Williams, Essence Jackson, Tyresha Gaten

Officers received signature navy jackets bearing the Divine Daughters of The Haven of Grace logo and a gold pin signifying their office. All charter members were presented with signature white shirts featuring the program logo and the Sankofa bird, a sacred West African symbol.

The Sankofa bird, shown with feet planted forward while its head turns back, reminds us that even as we move boldly ahead, we must carry the wisdom of the past with us. The bird does not step backward; it moves only forward. For Divine Daughters, it signifies healing with remembrance, leadership with vision, and mothers carrying forward both wisdom and strength as they build new legacies for their children and communities. Wearing the Sankofa unites the members in purpose and serves as a visible emblem of both heritage and hope.

The creation of this chapter reflects shared vision and collaboration. Dr. Marissa Hardwrict emphasized career readiness, helping women move beyond jobs into sustainable careers. Shernetta Bouier-Blue, founder of the original Divine Daughters, inspired the model of empowerment and sisterhood. And Patricia R. Bosman, President & CEO of The Haven of Grace, recognized the deeper need for community, leadership development, and long-term systems change, ensuring that alumnae have both the structure and the platform to lead. Under Bosman’s leadership, the vision became reality, connecting heritage, innovation, and the lived experiences of mothers into a single movement.

The day was also brought to life by the flawless execution of Diamond Harris, Program Coordinator at The Haven of Grace, whose care and attention to detail ensured that every ceremonial attribute, from attire to presentation, honored the dignity and significance of the moment.

Today, Divine Daughters is more than a program, it is a leadership incubator that honors alumnae as change agents. Each month blends accountability, education, and community, with on-site childcare to ensure access. Program pillars include:

Program Pillars

· Healing and Identity: Trauma-informed discussions, spiritual grounding, and cultural pride

· Faith and Purpose: Drawing on faith as a source of strength, resilience, and direction for life and leadership

· Wealth vs. Budgeting: Understanding ownership, legacy-building, and financial systems

· Career vs. Job Prep: Exploring entrepreneurial paths, personal branding, and career strategy

· Leadership in Action: Public speaking, civic engagement, and service projects

And yet, this is just the beginning. The future of Divine Daughters is bold. From this foundation, the program is expanding into capacity-building initiatives such as job development pipelines, a speakers bureau, and advocacy platforms to influence systems and policies. Mothers are no longer just recipients of care; they are leaders shaping solutions.

This is the promise of Divine Daughters at The Haven of Grace: a movement rooted in heritage, strengthened by community, and carried forward by the leadership of mothers who will break cycles for generations to come.
