Milestones
The Haven of Grace celebrates our mothers as they transition towards greatness. We are so grateful to provide the resources they need towards independence and happiness.
Christian Starts Kindergarten
Curious. Social. Energetic. Excited. A little wiggly. Ready to learn. All of this describes Haven kiddo and current Quad resident Christian – and these descriptors are how we know Christian is ready to take on his first day of Kindergarten this week!
Breeyana’s New Apartment
There are few bigger milestones in the life of a young adult than signing the lease on your first apartment. Haven mom Breeyana was able to take this step recently, and we are so proud of her for this big accomplishment!
Khadijah Starts a New Job
Haven mom Khadijah recently reached a milestone that is bittersweet for many new moms – heading back to work after having a baby.
Taja & Kylie Move to the Quad
When The Haven of Grace completed construction on our Quad apartment complex to add a 2-year transitional housing program in 2008, moms like Taja are exactly who we had in mind.
Kylie is Crawling
At The Haven of Grace, we believe that every step forward (whether on foot or at an unsteady crawl) deserves to be celebrated. That’s why a group of staff and residents were gathered around Haven baby Kylie this week, cheering her on as she showed off her new skill of crawling!
Moms Complete CPR Certification
The Haven’s moms recently took an important step in ensuring the safety of their young children – they have all successfully completed a Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification!
Kate’Lynn Turns Three
Kate’Lynn recently turned three – and she made sure everyone knew it! The day started with a rambunctious Kate’Lynn running through the halls, singing, “I’m the birthday girl! It’s my birthday!”
Makenzie Starts Preschool
Three year old Makenzie recently started preschool, and she could not have been more excited to meet all of her new friends and learn new lessons. Makenzie’s mom, Alicia, actually had more first-day jitters than Makenzie did as she dropped off her oldest daughter at school for the first time. It was a big day for them both!
Mekaiah’s First Tooth
If you follow any new mom on social media, you know that milestones come frequently for healthy new babies. We have already celebrated many “firsts” with Haven baby Mekaiah and her mom Jameka in her first five months of life, and today is no exception as we celebrate Mekaiah’s first tooth!
Je’Kiya, Zuri & Zara Move to the Quad… And Much More!
Je’Kiya arrived at The Haven of Grace in November of 2018. At that time, she had a 2-year-old daughter named Zuri and she was pregnant with her second daughter, Zara.
Jameka is Going to College
Haven mom Jameka recently gave birth to her first child, a little girl named Mekaiah. Like any new mom, she has a lot of dreams for her new daughter.
Je’Kiya Enters 3rd Trimester
Haven mom Je’Kiya recently entered the 3rd trimester of her pregnancy (beginning at 28 weeks). Like any expectant mother, she is tracking all the progress that her little one is making throughout her pregnancy.
An Interview with Robin Lloyd
At The Haven of Grace, we’ve been fortunate enough to attract a hearty, wide-ranging partner base. From the philanthropist who makes a substantial donation, to the young babysitter who volunteers for college credit, we thrive in the diversity of support surrounding us.
Tuncia makes an “About-face”
An about-face has many meanings; it is mostly used as a military term associated with soldiers turning themselves completely around, using only their legs in a precise way. It can also mean that someone has made significant changes to their life.
Measured Successes
Jyra said, “I came to the Haven of Grace because everything in my life had blown up.” She was living with her Mom and Dad and after three months her parents were divorced. Her Mom was forced into a smaller house, she could no longer live with mom and then she found out she was pregnant.

Your gift builds hope.
The Haven of Grace gladly accepts donations of new baby items and other basic supplies commonly used by the young mothers, preschoolers, toddlers, and infants residing in our Maternity Shelter.
